Naked Yoga Model Demonstrates Poses In Her Birthday Suit (NSFW)

I have mixed feelings about the series photographer Peter Hegre posted on reddit nsfw of his wife, Luba Shumeyko, doing super-advanced yoga poses in the buff. One the one hand, the photographs are undeniably beautiful. On the other hand, well, a lot of things. I hate that they perpetuate the myth that yoga poses are supposed to look a certain way. The fact is, most bodies will never be able to do many of these poses and seeing someone else do them can make the practice seem unapproachable - especially to newbies. Also, sadly, because she is naked, some dope will see these pictures and mistakenly think that yoga is sexually charged practice. Actually, it's not - or shouldn't be, I should say. With some recent sex scandals that have rocked the yoga world, you can see how easily those lines get blurred. Naturally, Redditors had various reactions - from discussion of Luba needing to "eat a cheeseburger" to admiration of "her physical strength" to comments about "how much more detail you can see in muscle tone when clothing is off." Because how could a woman be naked without everyone weighing in? Click through and see what you think about the naked asanas (NSFW). [ Nerve; Huffington Post; Imgur]

NASA to Launch Five New Earth Science Missions in 2014

Follow @ldattaro

NASA is putting more eyes on the Earth in 2014 than it has in more than a decade, with five launches delivering Earth science missions to Earth orbit and the International Space Station over the course of this year.

The new missions will study the Earth's systems in the hopes of addressing major issues including "climate change, sea level rise, decreasing availability of fresh water and extreme weather underground events," according to a NASA press release. The three satellites and two new instruments for the ISS are designed to collect data on carbon dioxide, rainfall, snowfall, soil, winds and clouds, among other things. (MORE: 10 Amazing Things We Learned in 2013 About the Only Earth We'll Ever Have)

"This really is shaping up to be the year of the Earth," NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said in the release, "and this focus on our home planet will make a significant difference in people's lives around the world."

The launches are as follows:

1. February 27: The Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Core Observatory. Launched on a Japanese H-IIA rocket, GPM will study precipitation to understand the Earth's water cycle.

2. June 6: The ISS-RapidScat mission. ISS-RapidScat is, as its name indicates, headed for the space station, where it will collect data on global ocean winds to improve climate research, weather forecasting and storm tracking.

3. July: The Orbiting Carbon Observatory (OCO)-2. Originally scheduled for 2009 but scrapped after a launch failure, OCO-2 will study global levels of carbon dioxide to better understand the carbon cycle and both natural and human sources of the greenhouse gas.

4. Sept 12: The Cloud-Aerosol Transport System (CATS). CATS is also headed for the ISS and will study small particles in the atmosphere, called aerosols, which affect cloud cover and the climate in ways that are crucial but not well understood. They're also dangerous for human health at ground level.

5. November: The Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) mission. SMAP data is expected to improve weather forecasts, agricultural productivity and flood and drought monitoring through studying the moisture in Earth's soil.

The two ISS missions will be launched on Falcon 9 rockets by private company SpaceX, which has a contract with NASA to deliver supplies to the space station. In total, five Earth-observing instruments are set to be delivered to the space station through 2017.

"This is just the beginning of the space station becoming a part of the global Earth-observing network," ISS chief scientist Julie Robinson said in the release.

15 oz can black beans, drained and rinsed

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp chili powder

1 package Wholly Guacamole

Shredded cheddar cheese

Shredded lettuce

2 roma tomatoes, diced

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Place tortillas on large cookie sheet. Spray both sides of tortillas with cooking spray. Bake two to three minutes, flip over, and cook two to three minutes longer, until lightly browned around edges.

Meanwhile, add chicken, black beans, cumin and chili powder to a large skillet and stir. Bring heat to medium-low and cook for five minutes, stirring occasionally, until warmed through.

Spread 1 Tbsp of guacamole on each tortilla shell. Top with chicken/bean mixture, shredded cheese, lettuce and tomato. Serves four.

Chicken fajita spuds

4 large baking potatoes, washed and dried

½ cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided

½ cup fat-free sour cream

1 Tbsp butter

½ tsp salt

½ tsp pepper

1 tsp olive oil

1 onion, sliced

1 green pepper, sliced

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp dried oregano

½ tsp cayenne pepper

1 cup shredded rotisserie chicken

1 Tbsp water

1 roma tomato, diced

2 green tomatoes, sliced

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Pierce potatoes with a fork or sharp knife. Place on a paper towel, leaving space between each potato, and microwave on high for 10 minutes. Turn over potatoes and cook an additional five to 10 minutes or until tender when poked with a fork.

After allowing to cool, cut a one-inch-wide strip from top of each baked potato. Carefully scoop out pulp, leaving shells intact; set shells aside. Mash pulp and stir in a quarter-cup of cheese, sour cream, butter, salt and pepper. Spoon back into shells and place on a baking sheet. Bake potatoes at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Heat olive oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and green pepper; sauté for five minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender. Stir in cumin, oregano, cayenne pepper, chicken and water. Reduce heat and let simmer for two to three minutes.

1 pint grape tomatoes, quartered

1 tsp dried oregano

½ tsp pepper

½ tsp minced garlic

1 lb shrimp, peeled and de-veined

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Toss green onions, green beans, 1 Tbsp olive oil and ½ tsp salt in a medium bowl. Spread evenly on a baking sheet. Roast in oven for 10 minutes.

Stir in tomatoes and oregano; return to the oven and roast until the vegetables begin to brown, about 10 minutes more.

Meanwhile, heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add remaining 1 Tbsp olive oil to pan; swirl to coat. Sprinkle shrimp with remaining salt, pepper and garlic. Add shrimp to pan; cook two minutes on each side or until shrimp are done.

Amazon Wants to Send You Stuff Before You've Even Decided to Buy It

The idea is called 'anticipatory shipping'

E-commerce juggernaut amazon local.com has a long legacy of fielding eyebrow-raising ideas-it recently told it was experimenting with delivery by drone and, heck, even the Kindle e-reader was out-there at one point. Now the Seattle-based giant has patented a method of shipping products before customers even place an order.

In December, Amazon was granted U.S. Patent No. 8,615,473 B2 for what the company describes as "anticipatory shipping," or a way of initiating the delivery process before a customer even clicks "buy." The idea is to cut down delivery time and, possibly, make it even less necessary to visit brick and mortar stores.

The document describes a process for boxing and shipping items the company expects customers in a specific area will want-based on previous orders, product searches, wish lists, or the contents of a shopping-cart before checkout.

Once in transit, the packages would theoretically wait at the shippers' hubs or on trucks until an order arrives. That is a different approach than the current approach: Today, the site receives an order and then labels packages with the final destination addresses at its warehouses before loading them onto waiting delivery trucks.

Sucharita Mulpuru, a Forrester Research analyst, told the Wall Street Journal: "It appears Amazon is taking advantage of their copious data. Based on all the things they know about their customers they could predict demand based on a variety of factors."

Shoppers want to spend on gifts, not shipping

<macys insiteimg src="http://www.internetretailer.com/static/uploads/thumbs/shutterstock_77446126_jpg_280x280_crop_q95.jpg">

After Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Green Monday comes the final holiday shopping day of the season with its own moniker: Free Shipping Day. That day occurred Wednesday and data from FreeShipping.com shows consumers embraced free shipping deals at Walmart.com, Kohls.com and Target.com the most.

The site says more than 1 million consumers signed up with their first name and e-mail to gain access to free shipping offers from retailers including Victoria's Secret, Macy's Inc. and Best Buy Co. FreeShipping.com says 25% more visitors logged into the site on Free Shipping day this year than last year. That's more than the 8.3% growth in site visits FreeShipping.com posted on the holiday last year.

Walmart.com, Kohls.com, and Target.com experienced the highest volume of clicks and purchases from FreeShipping.com members. Target had nearly a 50% increase in purchases from FreeShipping.com members compared to the previous 17 days of the month. 16% of FreeShipping.com members who visited the site before the holiday in December returned to browse and shop on Free Shipping Day. And apparently it's the women of households who are clamoring to finish up their online gift buying, as 63% of all visitors to FreeShipping.comwere female.

Amazon.com, meanwhile has been heavily promoting its Prime Membership, which offers free, two-day shipping for 22 million items sold on Amazon.com for $79 per year. Members of Amazon Prime who live in the contiguous United States have until midnight Eastern time on Sunday, Dec. 22, to order their goodies in time for Christmas.

True Prime procrastinators can still shop Amazon for select items as late as Dec. 23, though, and pay an extra $2.99 minimum fee per item to have the items delivered by Dec. 25. Amazon also offers "local express delivery" on Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, for $3.99 per item. Local express delivery is available in Baltimore; Boston; Chicago; Indianapolis; New York City; Philadelphia; Phoenix; Seattle; the San Bernardino, CA, area; Washington, D.C.; and in parts of New Jersey.

Despite an array of items eligible for Prime shipping on Amazon.com, recent analysis from Colin Sebastian, an analyst for investment firm Robert W. Baird & Co., finds there is plenty of room for Prime to expand to add more products. A fourth quarter inventory survey conducted by the firm finds that only 11% of all physical items on Amazon.com are eligible for Prime shipping-including 25% of media products, such as books and music CDs, and just 6% of non-media products. Baird research estimates there are at least 15 million paying Amazon Prime members, and such shoppers typically order three to four times more products than non-members, with a natural inclination toward buying Prime-eligible products.

"We see further Prime product availability as creating a virtuous cycle of increasing subscriptions, further category penetration and greater unit sales velocity," Sebastian writes in his analysis. Amazon does not disclose the number of Prime members.
The survey also finds that, despite the later start to holiday shopping this year, many items are now out of stock on Amazon.com, particularly products in the home and kitchen, electronics, home improvement, appliances and health categories. Sebastian says this suggests a strong end to the holiday shopping season.

Other just-released holiday shopping data suggests it isn't just U.S. shoppers hitting sites like Amazon to finish up their gift buying. Canada Post Corp., Canada's national mail and courier service, says it is on track to deliver a record 27 million parcels this holiday season. It also is reporting a 20% increase in domestic parcel volumes from the third week of November through mid-December compared to the same time last year. Canada Post delivers packages to 6,400 postal outlets across the country that consumers visit to pick up their packages.

"We've seen firsthand the incredible role that online shopping is playing this holiday season," says Doug Jones, senior vice president of delivery and customer experience at Canada Post. "It is a good-news challenge we have this year, with Canadians entrusting us with their own increase in parcel deliveries and shopping experiences, but we also need them to pick up their items as quickly as possible at their local postal outlet."

Jones adds that Canada Post has been delivering packages on weekends since Nov. 16 and, since then, it's delivered more than 700,000 parcels on Saturdays and Sundays. This past Monday, Canada Post set a record for daily parcel delivery by delivering 1.25 million packages.

Amazon.com is No. 1 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. Walmart.com is No.4, Kohls.com is No.26 and Target.com is No.18.
